Yesterday night, I met up with an old friend. The last time we met was about 20 years ago. He has a 4-year-old child, and the second one is due in June. His wife is quitting her job to become a full-time housewife and mother. Unfortunately, his company is planning to retrench him.
Finding a job these days is not easy, as there are more qualified candidates willing to work for less. The job market is highly competitive. He told me that he plans to continue upgrading his skills and networking, while keeping an eye out for job opportunities.
I shared with him that I have been unemployed since 2008. It's a miracle I've survived to this day by the grace and mercy of God. Being self-employed hasn't been easy, but somehow, I've managed to pull through life's storms. I constantly remind myself not to let worry overwhelm me. To me, worry signifies a lack of faith.
Please keep me in your prayers that I will not surrender to despair. If you ever need a listening ear, feel free to book a free chit-chat session with me at the Simei Community Centre coffee shop. You'll feel better and gain clarity after you vent your feelings and confusion. It's beneficial to talk to someone when you're feeling stuck. I am here for you, ready to listen.
